Meet Sonia Noel

Sonia Noel can easily say that she has made her mark on the Caribbean as one of the region’s most well known designs. Showing on catwalks in St. Maarten, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Jamaica, St. Kitts and many more she works tediously to ensure that each piece worn by her clients speaks volumes of their personal style and character. She has had the pleasure of having her clothing displayed in Shabeau Magazine, She Caribbean, GEM Magazine, Extra Good New Magazine and Pride Magazine.

Sonia was born in Guyana and this small town girl added her touch to a piece of fabric at the age of eleven when she needed a dress to attend a function. From there, the rest is history. She continued to make clothing for herself while managing her boutique which was at that time selling imported clothing. Her customers preferred the clothing she was wearing and from that inspiration her design company was born.

Noel designs and produces clothing for children, ladies and gentlemen alike under the label Mariska’s Designs. Initially when she started seriously designing some ten years ago her line was made up of mostly casual clothing and has since evolved to swimwear, cocktail dresses, formal wear, bags and jewelry.

“Exclusive Designs with an upbeat Caribbean Flavor” is the slogan of choice as all her creations are exclusively made with and adorned with beads, dies and vibrant hand paintings. She brings the Caribbean to life with her designs and many Caribbean celebrities have worn her clothing.

In the interest of business, Sonia Noel moved to Barbados two years ago where she owns and operates two boutiques, ‘Mariska’s’ and ‘Mariska’s on the West’ both of which cater to high-end clients who are looking to have that special outfit that is uniquely theirs.

After walking on many Caribbean catwalks, Sonia Noel made her dream a reality and in August of 2007, she successfully produced Guyana Fashion Weekend and showed her line to her fellow nationals.
